The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from a misleading statement circulating on social media, falsely attributed to the party regarding the ongoing situation in Palestine.

The clarification was made public on Friday by Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of ADC, through a post on his official X account.

Abdullahi addressed concerns over a story that risked being misinterpreted as the ADC’s official position on the Palestinian issue.

“The attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been drawn to a story in circulation which may be construed as the party’s position on the issue of Palestine,” he stated.

He denied that the statement reflects the party’s views, urging the public to disregard it.

In his statement, Abdullahi further clarified that the ADC has not adopted any official stance on the broader situation in Palestine or on the Federal Government of Nigeria’s position as articulated at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) currently underway in New York, USA.

“We would like to clarify that this statement does not reflect the views of the ADC on the general situation in Palestine or on the Federal Government of Nigeria’s position on the matter,” he emphasised.

The ADC’s swift response aims to curb misinformation and prevent misinterpretation of its position on sensitive international matters.
