‎Morocco, Cameroon set for AFCON quarter-final clash

Morocco and Cameroon will face each other in Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final after both sides progressed from the round of 16 on Sunday.

‎Cameroon booked their place with a 2–1 win over South Africa. After a cagey start, Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring in the 34th minute, reacting quickest after a corner was only half-cleared.

‎ The Indomitable Lions doubled their lead early in the second half when Christian Kofane headed in Aboubakar Nagida’s cross. South Africa pushed back late on and pulled a goal back through Evidence Makgopa, but Cameroon held on to secure victory.

‎Hosts Morocco advanced with a narrow 1–0 win over Tanzania. Despite dominating possession, the Atlas Lions struggled to break down a resilient defence and went into half-time without a shot on target.

‎The decisive moment came after 64 minutes when Brahim Díaz scored at the near post. Morocco then saw out the game calmly to reach the last eight.

‎The quarter-final sets up a clash between tournament hosts chasing a first continental title in 50 years and a Cameroon side buoyed by another hard-fought knockout win.
