Fines her N5m for contempt of court

Justice Binta Nyako has ordered the Senate to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan immediately.
The court ruled that the six months suspension given her was too excessive and threw out the objection of the Senate and Senator Godswill Akpabio that it was an internal affair of the Senate that the court could not dabble into.
However, the court fined Ms Natasha N5 million for breaching a gag order it placed on all parties to the matter.

The court frowned at Ms Natasha’s satirical apology letter she posted on her Facebook wall after the court had said everybody should not talk about the issue publicly again.
The court also asked her to publish apology to the court in two newspapers within seven days.
