The third-round first-leg qualifier for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup between Nigeria and Senegal will now take place at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

‎The Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the venue change following a request by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The match is scheduled for February 7.

‎NFF Director of Competitions, Ruth David, confirmed the development in a statement released to journalists on Friday in Abuja.

‎ According to her, the decision was prompted by the deteriorating condition of the pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, which had initially been approved for the fixture.

‎David explained that the Ibadan venue recently hosted the Falconets’ second-round, second-leg match against Rwanda in September 2025, a factor that contributed to the wear of the playing surface.

‎Following the change, the Falconets, who have been camping and training in Ibadan, are expected to relocate to Abeokuta in the coming days to acclimatise to the new venue.

‎Nigeria, two-time silver medallists at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, progressed to the third round after a dominant 5–0 aggregate victory over Rwanda.

‎The winner of the Nigeria–Senegal tie will advance to the final round of the African qualifiers, where they will face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in Poland from September 5 to September 27.
