The 2025 Grammy Awards are set to be a fierce contest among Nigerian musical heavyweights, with six artistes securing nominations in the same category. Davido, who has consistently represented Nigeria on the global stage, has earned his fourth Grammy nomination. This year, he is nominated for his collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Lojay, which made the cut for Best African Music Performance. The announcement has sparked excitement across the Nigerian music industry, as these artistes continue to showcase the rich and dynamic sound of Afrobeats and African music on an international platform. Davido, who made last year’s nomination, received another making it his fourth Grammy nomination, as his feature on Chris Brown’s Sensational ft. Lojay made the cut for Best African Music Performance. Other Nigerian artistes in the same category and their nominated songs include: “Tomorrow,” Yemi Alade; There’re still Nigerians with integrity — Femi, who returned N21m worth of crypto coins to owner, “MMS,” Asake & Wizkid; “Sensational,” Chris Brown feat. Davido & Lojay; “Higher,” Burna Boy and “Love Me JeJe,” Tems. Meanwhile, Beyoncé has broken the record for the most Grammy nominations in history, surpassing her husband, Jay-Z. She leads the pack with 11 nominations, more than any other artist heading into the 2025 ceremony. Close behind are Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone with seven nominations each, followed by Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift with six. However, notable absences this year include Ayra Starr and Tyla, who both competed in the 2024 awards but missed out on nominations this time. The 2025 Grammy award ceremony, will take place in Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
