A foremost private institution in Nigeria, Covenant University (CU), has been ranked the country’s top university in the just-released 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The annual ranking, published by Times Higher Education, assesses universities worldwide based on 18 performance indicators across teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. The university is owned by the Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, headquartered in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. In Nigeria, the University of Ibadan secured second place, with the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Bayero University, Kano (BUK) rounding out the top five. For the 2024 rankings, the analyzed data from 1,907 universities in 108 countries, include over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and survey responses from more than 68,000 scholars globally.
